Volunteer at the Craig Family Centre as a Volunteer tutor. You will need to be available Wednesdays from 3.45pm-5.15pm (during school terms).More information: To get involved contact our Homework Support Coordinator.Homework is any activity which students are asked to do outside of lesson time, either on their own or with parents / carers.

These aim for instance to improve literacy and numeracy and give children an additional boost in particular subject areas.

Schools may also offer a wide variety of other activities which aim to motivate and support children to reach their full potential including music, sport, languages, art, dance, drama, cookery or chess amongst many others.

It also helps consolidate and reinforce pupils’ knowledge, understanding and skills and provides teachers with evidence of a pupil’s ability / progress All subjects set 1 piece of homework per week except subjects that are timetabled for one period per week.

They should set at least 1 piece of homework every 2 weeks.

Through a unique partnership between the City of Hayward and Hayward Unified School District, the Hayward Library has expanded successful homework support services to local elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools.

Homework Support Centers feature book-vending machines, laptop computers, homework and project supplies, on-site trained volunteer tutors ready to assist students in small groups with all of the their homework needs, and access to the Library’s free real-time tutoring program, The Craig Family Centre is proud to have been providing weekly ongoing homework support to primary and secondary school students for over 10 years.By providing a safe and supportive out-of-school learning environment where primary or secondary students can participate in activities that develop their academic skills, such as homework, numeracy and literacy, we know we have helped many young people to improve their understanding and engagement at school.For some students this is the first positive learning experience they have had regarding their learning.Sessions for students are Wednesdays from 4pm-5pm (during school terms).Would you rather get tutoring help over the Internet? Study support activities take place mainly on school premises but may also include neighbouring schools or visits to other places such as libraries, sports grounds or clubs, museums and galleries.Those schools which qualify for financial support through the extended schools programme are encouraged to provide programmes which focus on learning and improving educational achievement for children and young people.There are i Phone and Android apps available for free for students and parents.For pupils in years 12 and 13 homework is set and can be accessed by teachers, students and parents via Google classroom Non-Completion of Homework When homework has not been completed, or not been completed to an acceptable standard, the class teacher will place the student in ‘Homework Support’.
