This year your Year 1 teachers are Mr Williams and Miss Jarmson and we are both really excited about the learning that will take place this year.

We set weekly Maths homework to consolidate that week’s learning. Every day children are given the opportunity to choose a reading book to take home to develop an enthusiasm for reading.

This promotes children’s independence and gives them freedom to choose a book that will engage them.

You will receive a new homework grid at the start of each half term and the activities will be linked to what we are learning in school.

The work should be of a good quality and should be brought to school on a Friday to be checked, in their blue homework folder.Here you will be able to find useful information and links for homework, school projects and events and other exciting things that are happening in our year group this year. This topic will have a Science focus, however the children will still have aspects of Art, History and Geography, for example, taught to provide them with a rich and engaging curriculum.The children will be developing their knowledge and understanding about recycling, global warming and animal habitats (to name a few).Now parents can more easily support their child at homework time by using our Homework Helpers, authored by the teacher-writers who wrote Great Minds partners with a number of third party vendors to provide you with the best manipulatives and workbooks out there.
